{"id":1845,"date":"2022-10-27T01:03:53","date_gmt":"2022-10-27T06:03:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thinkulum.net\/blog\/?p=1845"},"modified":"2022-10-27T01:10:46","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T06:10:46","slug":"weeknote-for-10-23-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thinkulum.net\/blog\/2022\/10\/27\/weeknote-for-10-23-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Weeknote for 10\/23\/2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Politics<\/h2>\n<p>\ud83d\ude10<\/p>\n<p><strong>My friend Heather jumpstarted my election research with links to some helpful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/politics\/elections\/ct-chicago-tribune-endorsements-20221010-ua5zygkfdvgszbw25c6rwt6nhe-story.html\">endorsements<\/a>.<\/strong> Other than listening to those, I only got as far as setting up an outline for my notes, but I\u2019m still aiming to drop off my ballot on Saturday.<\/p>\n<h2>Programming<\/h2>\n<p>\ud83d\ude0e<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Event-Based Programming<\/em> by Ted Faison gave me a detailed map of this paradigm so I won\u2019t have to feel lost<\/strong> when I wade into creating normal, user-driven apps, in contrast with the very linear programs I\u2019ve always written. I was especially intrigued by the thought of using event-based interaction patterns to represent human procedures, such as the book\u2019s example of a cook round-robin polling their pots to detect when they\u2019re done.<\/p>\n<h2>Movies<\/h2>\n<p>\ud83e\udd14<\/p>\n<p><strong>I had another dual reaction to <em>The Amazing Spider-Man 2<\/em><\/strong>\u2014the highly questionable comic book science that I\u2019m not sure even followed its own rules vs the very relatable human elements.
