Maybe I can get the labels made this week.<\/p>\n<h2>Life maintenance<\/h2>\n<p>\ud83d\ude0c<\/p>\n<p><strong>I got some recalls on my car fixed.<\/strong> The first recall was announced around the beginning of the year (an airbag and seatbelt malfunction\u2014kind of important!), but the fix wasn&#8217;t ready until about the time the lockdowns started. I&#8217;ve been procrastinating since then, but my family has been carefully planning a vacation together for Christmas, and I didn&#8217;t want to put off the repairs till the last minute before the big road trip.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the point we&#8217;ve gotten to\u2014a trip to the mechanic is the sole notable moment of my week. At the same time, it does feel like an accomplishment, because I&#8217;ve somehow gotten even worse about putting off practical tasks.<\/p>\n<h2>Politics<\/h2>\n<p>\ud83d\ude0e<\/p>\n<p><strong>I added more political podcasts to try.<\/strong> I was already listening to too many, but I decided that in addition to keeping my cool while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/magazine\/archive\/2020\/11\/what-if-trump-refuses-concede\/616424\/\">waiting for the election to be finalized<\/a>, I wanted to hear from pundits across the political spectrum. I added some more on the right and a couple from further left.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Right:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acton.org\/actonline\"><em>Acton Line<\/em><\/a> &#8211; They advertise on <em>The Dispatch<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/advisoryopinions.thedispatch.com\/\"><em>Advisory Opinions<\/em><\/a> (<em>The Dispatch<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/show\/2BbbFyOBNTLpYDzUai6ta2?si=kVLEao2FTT2WxW5zrcwEFQ\">Hold These Truths with Dan Crenshaw<\/a><\/em> &#8211; I found this one by searching for Yuval Levin in my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.downcastapp.com\/\">podcast app<\/a>, which I think just searches iTunes. Crenshaw interviewed him for a recent episode. More on Levin below.<\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/omny.fm\/shows\/larry-elder\">The Larry Elder Show<\/a><\/em> &#8211; On the Trump-supporting side of things. A friend of mine likes this one.<\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalaffairs.com\/blog\/media\">National Affairs<\/a><\/em> &#8211; This is the podcast of Yuval Levin&#8217;s publication. Levin came up in <a href=\"https:\/\/remnant.thedispatch.com\/p\/conspiracies-all-the-way-down-539\">an episode of <em>The Remnant<\/em><\/a>, along with other theorists on the Right. A <em>New York Times<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/07\/06\/magazine\/can-the-gop-be-a-party-of-ideas.html\">article on these theorists<\/a> pointed me to <em>National Affairs<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/pointofview.net\/shows\/\"><em>Point of View Radio Talk Show<\/em><\/a> &#8211; I listened to this one in earlier years. They&#8217;re on the more levelheaded end of rightwing radio.<\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/remnant.thedispatch.com\/\">The Remnant with Jonah Goldberg<\/a><\/em> (<em>The Dispatch<\/em>) &#8211; I like <em>The Dispatch<\/em>, can you tell?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Left:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know anything about these. I just searched for &#8220;socialist&#8221; in my podcast app. I was inspired by an intriguing <a href=\"https:\/\/kpfa.org\/player\/?audio=345454\">interview with Vijay Prashad<\/a> on <em>Letters and Politics<\/em>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/show\/5Ksdo647Uz0ZfxwFwJ2GPL\">Socialist Revolution<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsws.org\/en\/special\/podcast\"><em>World Socialist Web Site Daily Podcast<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;m <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2020\/11\/11\/no-hail-mary-plan-trump-isnt-going-work\/\">not feeling<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/magazine\/2020\/11\/12\/election-law-experts-roundup-436139\">too worried<\/a> about the election now, and I&#8217;ve just about had my fill of 24\/7 political commentary, so in the next week or two I&#8217;ll filter these podcasts to the few I might want to follow going forward, and then I&#8217;ll go back to Lex Fridman and audiobooks.
