About AI I learned that it&#8217;s good to have manual overrides, though HAL was fortunately not as capable as some of us expect a superintelligent AI to be. Hmmm, if HAL had won, would he have become the Star Child?<\/p>\n<h2>Music<\/h2>\n<p>\ud83d\ude0e<\/p>\n<p><strong>The best part of watching 2001 was discovering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/tomserviceblog\/2012\/aug\/27\/gyorgy-ligeti-contemporary-music-guide\">Gy\u00f6rgy Ligeti<\/a>.<\/strong> It kickstarted a project I&#8217;d had in the back of my mind, a playlist I&#8217;m calling <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/playlist\/42HPbWjqYRHrwOhObPRZnY?si=pdxkXVFxTymoMEmJzJFfUA\">The Numinous Void<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Social issues<\/h2>\n<p>\ud83e\udd14<\/p>\n<p><strong>Latasha Morrison&#8217;s <em>Be the Bridge<\/em> is an engaging and gentle introduction to racial reconciliation.<\/strong> I may have discovered the next shell to crack in my personal education in race relations, since I found myself partially resisting the idea of collective guilt.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I paid some cautious attention to Neil Shenvi&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/shenviapologetics.com\/critical-theory-all-content\/\">critiques of critical race theory<\/a>.<\/strong> I only got through a few articles, but I thought his &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/shenviapologetics.com\/critical-race-theory-and-christianity\/\">Critical Race Theory and Christianity<\/a>&#8221; and his <a href=\"https:\/\/shenviapologetics.com\/a-long-review-of-kendis-stamped-from-the-beginning-part-1\/\">review of <em>Stamped from the Beginning<\/em><\/a>\u00a0offered some reasonable counterpoints.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Math \ud83d\ude42 I paused the math learning to set up some tools.
